Happy

Happy New Year everyone! Can you believe 10 years ago we were freaking out with the "new millennium" and what our computers were going to do and the end of the world as we know it. Ten years. 2000 and now 2010. Went by fast. What are your plans for the next ten years? What do you want to be doing and where do you want to be? I'm shooting for health and happiness and of course we can always throw in some wealth to round it all out. Enjoy your new year's festivities and be safe my blogger friends!

meow

I am not African American nor am I an amazing 5'11" and weigh 120 pounds...so, what do I have in common with this girl? The coat! Bid and won it on ebay--vintage 1960's and am loving the traditional/classic (toggle buttons and hood) mixed with the faux fur leopard. The print on this one is just beyond, supersoft, and will look great dressed up or with jeans...love!

there's a t-shirt for that

with all the hullabaloo that will be happening with the impending Sex and the City 2 movie,Dressing On The Side has created a t-shirt that would be perfect to wear for all the festivities.

we kind of think our cute little fish looks a little like SJP?

white hot

How fabulous would it be to look like one of these girls in the frosty snow rather than the michelin man all stuffed into a down coat.

wild thing

I'm loving the idea of a leopard jacket or coat, but in reality... will I look like Mrs. Robinson?! (although she looks amazing here...) Would you ever wear such a wild thing?

let the baking begin

The family is arriving on the home field this week and I'm starting the baking of forbidden treats. Maybe they call these "magic bars" because of the amazing speed that you can add an inch (or two) to your waistline??! Thumbprint cookies just like when they were five years old...
and coconut macaroons for the adults they are now.
I'm also hoping to whip up these carrot cupcakes with the help of my daughter, Audrey (whose husband just happens to love them...gotta please everyone during the holidays!) and decorate with some vintage cupcake toppers I found at Bake It Pretty

and in my next post I'll share the big ass pants that I'll be wearing by the weekend.

make it a cozy one

Hopefully you don't have to mess around with harried shoppers and the hustle and the bustle this weekend and you get a chance to sit back, get cozy, and enjoy. My two week Christmas break starts today and I'll be finding me some chillaxation.

Christmas confessions

Christmas is all about peace, joy, and throw in a few surprise gifts to keep you on your toes. Must be the control freak gene in me or the surprise gifts that my parents would give me that always seemed to rock my boat(how many ugly Christmas sweaters can a 12 year old wear?!)
When I was younger I would go through hell and highwater to find out the contents of a box peacefully waiting under a tree with my name on it. Sounds awful doesn't it...but as I look back I think I wanted to be sure I could smile at the ugly sweater (that people pleaser tendency) all the while having a pre-conceived plan in my head of how it would be returned for the coolest button up fly pants I had ever spyed at Casual Corner.

I think I'm getting better now (I'll most likely tell you that it's an ugly sweater)and my husband can actually keep my presents out instead of keeping them under lock and key. It may help that he's learned to get exactly what on my list to soothe the curiosity beast inside of me.
And you...do you like surprises?

I really know nothing about this movie except the fact that I really, really, really, want to see it. It looks AMAZING.

what a good memory

If you imagine that each of these Polaroids is a new screen/folder on your computer--my brand spankin new, wow isn't it fast and amazing computer could open all of these and still let me search for something else. LOVE it.

thank you

Thank you sun for shining so bright and melting the snow so the kids at my school could go outside to run and scream instead of being stuck inside. I owe you a big one, sun.

*do not open until May, 2010*

Not sure what you all are getting for Christmas but we received very special news a couple months ago that our only daughter and her husband will be expecting a bundle of joy in the spring of 2010.
They just found out that the baby will be a girl and we all know how we feel about that!

here's a tip

Tis the season for tipping the peeps that you want, need, squeeze you in, and help you with daily, weekly, or monthly maintenance. Holiday tipping is always a puzzle for me. I am a generous tipper at all of my regular visits so do I really need to tip above and beyond+beyond for the holiday season?
What's your tip on tipping during this time of year?

snow

I love the idea of snow and I feel a little dreamy seeing these lovely images of snow...but the reality.
The reality is I suck at driving in the snow and trying to pull out of my driveway with a teensy tiny incline makes my Jeep spin its tires while my husband can zip right out.
But- I do love the look of falling snow and the hope that maybe...maybe...they'll be a two hour delay at my school? Hot cocoa anyone?

her favorite and her best

You may have seen around the blogosphere today that a certain girl named Jen has been enjoying many well wishes for her "significant- ending in a zero" birthday. And here's another: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Jen's blog "My Favorite and My Best" is honest, tell-it-like-it-is, decorating, daily life, and a delight to read on any given day. I wish I had the balls to say (let alone write) half the things she shares with us.
What we've now found out is that a special husband named Mike is head-over-heels, crazy in love with Jen and wanted to surprise her with well wishes from all of her favorite blog authors. How amazingly sweet is that?!
And if you don't get all mushy with the thought of that...think of all the time he spent finding the blogs, finding the emails of the blog authors, writing letters to these daily reads of his beloved Jen, keeping all this from his birthday girl, and crossing his fingers and wishing upon stars that this would all work out. And it did!!
What a favorite birthday this has got to be for Jenny and here's wishing you a year with all the best!

that was then...

Ever notice how fashion goes round and round?
Timeless...but with a twist.
That was then, this is now but not too much has changed.
