many moons ago
I was reminded of my daughter's bedroom (we won first prize in a CHILD magazine contest...is that magazine even still around??!) when I saw some recent pics of another painted dresser on another blog (and now I can't find it...grrrr). Sorry for the quality of the pics...these are scanned from the magazine but I'll try to find the originals (nothing's ever where you think it is).

ladies night
Casual cocktails tonight with the girls. I'm bummed I can't wear something fun and frilly for the legs--but the stormtrooper boot is still there for another 4 weeks.
I'm walking without crutches (hooray!) and if I could grow a scruffy beard and be in a Western, I'd be the sidekick "hop-a-long" with my bobble of a walk.
Have a glorious weekend everyone.

awkward
Have you been watching? Really, it's okay; you can tell me...this is a safe place where we don't judge (and I'm actually the girl with the "L" on her forehead who actually enjoys the show).
The new judging panel...um...awkward? It's like a play with bad timing...no one knows when to speak or how long to speak. And if Randy Jackson says "what do you think, E?" one more time...he's going down.

This affair has got to stop
I'm losing sleep and dragging myself into work; eating too much too late at night; not leaving my house; and it's all because of you, OLYMPICS!
When did bobsledding become so important to me?! Was I ever interested in hockey before? When was the last time I stayed up into the wee hours to see if Apollo would work his magic?! Sigh...only a few more days and back to my daily life.

I Spy
We've had a couple of good showings on the house. People have wanted to come back for more or hung around their first visit for over an hour (maybe they're just casing the place for a robbery later on).
I so wish I could hear what they're saying after they leave...what they liked; what they didn't like; why didn't the homeowner make us cookies?

Going to the Dogs
Dogs are the coolest...they're always up for a good time.
Thanks for the video, Paola--can't wait to see you!
slavery or service?
The budget cuts affect everyone and when our school couldn't afford a second janitor they decided to pull together a "service" club for 3rd- 5th grade students. What does the service club do? In a nutshell, two to three kids come around each day to empty the trash in classrooms (I get creeped out with them eyeballing my lunch leftovers and always dump it into their big garbage bag for them) and every once in a while our OCD one and only janitor will allow them to clean a window or two at the front doors.
What do you think? Is this a good way to learn service or is it child labor at its best?

the boys are back in town
I think I've mentioned this before...but when I walk to school (5 more weeks! 5 more weeks till the boot comes off!!) and my iPod is cranked up...I sort of like to fantasize. Get your mind out of the gutter.
I dream about being on the ice in an Olympic competition. And I don't just skate like a girl...oh no my friends...I skate like the boys ("Benson just did a QUAD!! A quad!! it's the first time for a woman skater in the history of the Olympics!!")
I am BEYOND happy watching the drama, the jumps, the costumes on these two U.S Olympians. Johnny Weir (a man marching to the beat of his own drum yet traditional in his skating) and Evan Lysacek (did you see him on Leno a week or so ago--so pulled together, easy to talk to and going for the gold). Good luck in the finals, boys.

hugs and kisses
when you're a kid, Valentine's Day is one of the best.
Do you remember picking out the PERFECT valentine for your 4th grade crush? Did he realize how much you agonized over giving him "You're PURR-fect" --with the illustration of a cat or "You make my motor run"--with the cartoon car??! You hope beyond hope that you sent the right message.
If you had a very cool teacher (Mr. Leo Hayes/6th grade) this too called for the most special card and of course your BFF's all would be delivered supersweet cards and candy(and the Valentines "mailboxes" that we used to make...love that too!)

my heart belongs to ryantown
My husband will be receiving this Valentine and the sentiment fits perfectly (I'm afraid that I've been a horrible shrew these last few days being so frustrated with my foot). But to be perfectly honest, I can't wait to have it framed so I can adore it everyday. Robert Ryan is a genius and I just drool and wonder looking at his imagination. Check out his things here.

read a good book lately?
I rarely find time to do any reading on my own. Until now. The broken foot and crutches have forced me to slow down, get to bed early, and read...and read...and read.
I'm just about done with The Swan Thieves (500+ pages and I assumed it would take me to Spring Break to finish when I was hiking and walking...um...make that 5 days!) and had recently closed the cover on "The Help". I've got the boot for another 7 weeks...although the crutches should be out the door this weekend. Got any suggestions to help this cripple out?
